Davenies School support our programme

by Sue Pomeroy in donate, friends_partners

At the beginning of the holidays we visited the school to find out how they could help us. We found that they had lots of tables, chairs and storage racks which we could send out to the Basic Schools in Lusaka. This was great news as furniture of that size is usually very difficult to come by.
At the end of the holiday we went back and loaded up a van with the tables and chairs, there were so many we didn’t have room for the storage racks (we’ll be going back for those soon). The two gentlemen who loaded up the van were marvellous, how they got all that furniture in the back I don’t know.

The next day we set off to Operation Sunshine in Folkestone and loaded some of the furniture on to the container. We couldn’t fit it all on as they had suddenly received a delivery of 200 boxes of rice that had to go on that container. Operation Sunshine plan to send another container to Zambia in October so the plan is to collect the storage racks and send those with the rest of the furniture on that container. The journey takes about three months so we hope to have some pictures of its arrival in Lusaka round about Christmas time.

Here are some pictures of the equipment and the container that it is being loaded on. Thank you very much to Davenies School, your generosity will be greatly appreciated by the children in Lusaka.
